Etymology

Ballinacor North derives its name from the Ballinacor Castle - from IrishBaile na Corra, town of the weir.[1]

Ballinacor North is located in centralCounty Wicklow, in theWicklow Mountains.

History

Ballinacor North: theO'Byrne (Ó Broin)sept, originally of Kildare, were centred near here after the 12th century and included the territory of Gabhal Raghnaill.[2] The original Ballinacor barony was divided into north andsouth in 1798.
