Bhagat Singh Shanker,[2] known asBaggy Shanker, is a BritishLabour and Co-operative Party politician who has beenMember of Parliament forDerby South since2024.[3][4]
He was electedDerby City Council leader in 2023, making him the firstSikh council leader in Derby: he was removed from that position in June 2024 after losing amotion of no confidence.[5][6][7]
Shanker previously worked as a project manager atRolls-Royce's Civil Aerospace Division,[8] and for the chemicals companyCelanese.[9]
