Badminton Wales (formerlyWelsh Badminton Union orWBU) is the nationalgoverning body forbadminton inWales. Formed in 1928 as The Welsh Badminton Union, in 1934 it was one of the founder members of theBadminton World Federation. WBU became a member of theEuropean Badminton Union in 1968 (nowBadminton Europe). Over 90 senior clubs are affiliated to Welsh Badminton Union, and its membership is nearly 4000.[1][2][3]

Wales competes in theEuropean Championships,World Championships,Commonwealth Games and theThomas andUber Cup World Team Championships. WBC organises national and international competitions, including the Welsh National Badminton Championships and theWelsh International Badminton Championships, and manages the Wales representative squads internationally, at all levels.[2][3]

Welsh Badminton playersKelly Morgan andRichard Vaughan representedGreat Britain at theSydney 2000 andAthens 2004 Olympics. Morgan also competed at theAtlanta 1996 Olympics.[4][5]

Welsh Badminton Union relocated to theSport Wales National Centre,Sophia Gardens,Cardiff fromCardiff Bay in January 2010.[6][7]
