John Klinger (14 May 1984 – 20 May 2024) was a Germanprofessional wrestler better known by thering nameBad Bones. Klinger worked internationally as part ofindependent promotions across Europe, Japan, Israel, and the United States.
Bad Bones debuted in 2004.[1] He held numerous titles including thewXw Unified World Heavyweight Championship andEuropean Heavyweight Championship.[2][3] Wrestling internationally he faced Frankie Sloan forAll Star Wrestling,[4]Spud for 1 Pro Wrestling,[5] Andy Wild for Discovery Wrestling[6] and the BCW Openweight Championship,[7]Mikey Whiplash and Johnny Moss forInsane Championship Wrestling,[8][9]Rampage Brown forPROGRESS Wrestling,Josh Briggs forEVOLVE Wrestling,[10] and numerous others.[11]
Bad Bones first appeared in TNA during the 29 September TNA First Impact Tour where he defeated Karsten Kretschmer. He participated in and won the January 2011 edition ofTNA Gut Check held in London, England.
Bad Bones returned to TNA in February 2014, during this time, Bad Bones worked in several matches for TNA. On 1 February, Bones facedChristopher Daniels in a dark match, losing to Daniels. On that same night, during the regular broadcast of Impact Wrestling, he lost toSamoa Joe. The following night on 2 February, at TNA One Night Only: Joker's Wild 2, Bones teamed withSamoa Joe, to defeat Christopher Daniels andRobbie E in a qualifying match for the Joker's Wild Gauntlet match. The $100,000 Joker's Wild Gauntlet was later won byEthan Carter III. During the 27 February edition of Impact Wrestling, Bones was selected byMagnus to be the opponent of Magnus' rival Samoa Joe. He was defeated by Joe in the brief match that followed.
On 24 February 2017, edition ofImpact Wrestling, Bad Bones returned to TNA in a losing effort against the debutingJosh Barnett.[12]
Klinger died on 20 May 2024, at the age of 40, just 6 days after his 40th birthday.[13] The cause of death was later revealed to be a heart attack.
