BAZ1A

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Protein-coding gene in the species Homo sapiens

Bromodomain adjacent to zinc finger domain protein 1A is aprotein that in humans is encoded by theBAZ1Agene.[1][2]

Structure

[edit]

Theprotein encoded by this gene belongs to a family of proteins which includesBAZ1B,BAZ2A, andBAZ2B. All family members contain the followingdomains andstructural motifs:[1]

Function

[edit]

BAZ1A along withSMARCA5,POLE3, andCHRAC1 comprise the WCRF/CHRAC ATP-dependentchromatin-remodeling complex.[3][4]

The purified CHRAC complex can mobilizenucleosomes into a regularly spaced nucleosomal array, and the spacing activity is ATP-dependent.[4] Furthermore, the BAZ1A-SMARCA5 complex enablesDNA replication through highly condensed regions ofchromatin.[5]

Interactions

[edit]

BAZ1A has been shown tointeract withSMARCA5[3][4][6][7][8] andSATB1.[7]
