Bromodomain adjacent to zinc finger domain protein 1A is aprotein that in humans is encoded by theBAZ1A gene .[ 1] [ 2]
Theprotein encoded by this gene belongs to a family of proteins which includesBAZ1B ,BAZ2A , andBAZ2B . All family members contain the followingdomains andstructural motifs :[ 1]
BAZ1A along withSMARCA5 ,POLE3 , andCHRAC1 comprise the WCRF/CHRAC ATP-dependentchromatin-remodeling complex .[ 3] [ 4]
The purified CHRAC complex can mobilizenucleosomes into a regularly spaced nucleosomal array, and the spacing activity is ATP-dependent.[ 4] Furthermore, the BAZ1A-SMARCA5 complex enablesDNA replication through highly condensed regions ofchromatin .[ 5]
