TheBöcekli Mosque orTüccarbaşı Böcekli Mosque is amosque in the Tüccarbaşı area ofSahrayıcedit,Kadıköy,Istanbul,Turkey.
The mosque was built in 1913 by asilkworm (Turkish:böcek, literally, "bug") breeder named Fatma Zehra.[1]
The mosque is constructed of cut stone on a rectangular plan with a wooden dome-like ceiling over the central area and a singleminaret. The interior is decorated with multicolored floral, vegetal, and geometric motifs.[2] One of itscalligraphic works is listed as stolen.[3]
The grave of Fatma Zehra is in the garden of the mosque.[4]
The Böcekli Mosque Fountain is an outlet of theHamidiye water system. Acast-ironfountain was installed west of the mosque (now on Sinan Street, across Bayar Avenue) in the early 20th century.[5]
The mosque underwentrestoration in 1982 and 2015–2019.[6][7]
