Bálint Máté Vécsei (born 13 July 1993) is a Hungarian professionalfootballer who plays as amidfielder for Hungarian clubPaksi SE.
He started playing football at the Kazinczy Ferenc elementary school inKazincbarcika. Since his father is a geography-physical education teacher, he immediately fell in love with football. Vécsei started his career in theKazincbarcikai SC's youth team.
On 28 July 2008,Budapest Honvéd signed him. On 11 May 2011, he played his firstHungarian League match againstGyőri. In the 2012–13 season of the Hungarian League Vécsei played 28 matches and scored four goals.
On 18 August 2015, he was signed by theSerie A clubBologna F.C. 1909.[2] At the same time he was loaned toU.S. Lecce.
On 13 July 2016, Vécsei joined Swiss clubLugano on a season-long loan deal.[3] During his time at Lugano he provided a man of the match performance against FC Sion with two goals, in the 77th and 92nd minute.[4]
On 29 December 2019, he signed to Hungary with Ferencváros.[5] Officially available to the club on 1 January 2020.
On 16 June 2020, he became champion with Ferencváros by beatingBudapest Honvéd FC at theHidegkuti Nándor Stadion on the 30th match day of the2019–20 Nemzeti Bajnokság I season.[6]
On 5 May 2023, he won the2022–23 Nemzeti Bajnokság I withFerencváros, afterKecskemét lost 1–0 toHonvéd at theBozsik Aréna on the 30th matchday.[7][8]
On 2 September 2023, it was announced that Vécsei has joined Vissel Kobe and was given squad number 6.[9] In November 2023, Vécsei becameJ1 League champion with Kobe.[10]
On 30 December 2023, it was officially announced thatVissel Kobe did not want to lengthen their contract with Vécsei.[11][12]
On 14 May 2025, he won the2025 Magyar Kupa final withPaksi FC after beatingFerencvárosi TC 4–3 on penalty shoot-out.[13]
On 17 July 2025, he missed two penalties in a 3-0 defeat fromCFR Cluj in the2025–26 UEFA Europa League season.[14]
On 27 March 2023, he scored his first goal againstBulgaria in a 3–0 victory for Hungary in theUEFA Euro 2024 qualifying at thePuskás Aréna.[15]
In an interview with Bence Szabó, published in Sportrádió Hazafutás, he said that he wants to play at theUEFA Euro 2024.[16]
