InGreek mythologyAxius (Ancient Greek:Ἀξιός,romanizedAxios) is aPaeonianriver god, the son ofOceanus andTethys. He was the father ofPelagon, byPeriboea, daughter ofAcessamenus. His domain was the riverAxius, now known as the Vardar, flowing in the ancient region ofMacedonia.

The river god was an ancestor ofEuphemus and his son,Eurybarus, the hero who slew thedrakainaSybaris.[1]
