Avoch railway station was a station on thesingle trackbranch of theHighland Railway, in north eastScotland. The line connected villages inThe Black Islepeninsula to the railway network via a junction atMuir of Ord.
Opened by theHighland Railway in 1894, it became part of theLondon, Midland and Scottish Railway during theGrouping of 1923. The station then passed on to theScottish Region of British Railways onnationalisation in 1948. It was then closed byBritish Railways.
Authorisation was obtained on 4 July 1890 to build a 15.75 mile (25 km) branch line from Muir of Ord toRosemarkie; however the line never proceeded beyond Fortrose.[3]
