Ashlesha (Sanskrit: आश्लेषा orĀśleṣā) (Tibetan: སྐར་མ་སྐག), also known asAyilyam inTamil andMalayalam (Tamil: ஆயில்யம், Malayalam: ആയില്യം,Āyilyaṃ), is the 9th of the 27nakshatras inHindu astrology. Ashlesha is also known as theClinging Star orNāga.[1] It corresponds to part of the constellationHydra, including the starEpsilon Hydrae which has been named Ashlesha. It extends from 16:40 to 30:00Cancer.[2]
The planetary lord isMercury orBudha. Its presiding deities are theNāgas.[3]The nakshatra's symbol is a coiledserpent. It is atrikshana or three eyed. Its animal symbol is the malecat Gana (Rakshasa), Dosha (Kapha).<ref"ashlesha". Retrieved6 November 2016.</ref>
