American mathematician
Arthur Ogus in 1975 Arthur Edward Ogus is an Americanmathematician . His research is inalgebraic geometry ; he has served as chair of the mathematics department at theUniversity of California, Berkeley .[ 1]
Ogus did his undergraduate studies atReed College , graduating in 1968, and earned his doctorate in 1972 fromHarvard University under the supervision ofRobin Hartshorne . His doctoral students at Berkeley includeKai Behrend .[ 1] [ 2]
In September 2015, a conference in honor of his 70th birthday was held at theInstitut des Hautes Études Scientifiques in France.[ 3]
