Arrow cresting

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Acresting machine (also called anarrow-cresting machine, anarrow-crester, or simply acrester[1]) is a machine that aids in the adding of coloured lines calledcresting toarrows in order to identify thefletcher. Cresting machines are smalllathes that consist of achuck and anengine attached to a board.[2] Cresting machines do not paint the arrows themselves but are ratherjigs that rotate the arrows uniformly so that a separate steadily held paintbrush can paint the cresting accurately.[3]
