Genus of grasses
Arrhenatherum , commonly calledoat-grass orbutton-grass , is agenus ofEurasian andNorth African plants in thegrass family .[ 4] [ 5] [ 6] [ 7]
Wild forms can resemblewild oat (Avena ) orfescue (Festuca ). Oat-grasses are very commonperennials with yellowishroots . The shiningstems grow to a height of 1.80 m (6 ft),[ 8] but die off in winter. Theleaves are hairless with blunt ligules. Theinflorescence is apanicle with two-flowered bisexual spikelets.[ 9]
