Arne Lyng (born 29 September 1962 inDarmstadt,Germany[1]) is aNorwegiandistrict courtjudge currently employed atOslo District Court.
On 23 December 2011 it became known that he, along withWenche Elizabeth Arntzen, was to preside over the criminaltrial ofAnders Behring Breivik, who was accused of terrorism and mass murder following the2011 Norway attacks.[2] The trial lasted from 16 April until 22 June 2012.
Lyng has previously worked as deputy judge (Norwegian:dommerfullmektig) atVesterålen District Court, advisor and special advisor for theFinancial Supervisory Authority of Norway, chief secretary for the Bank Act Commission, and aslawyer in Law Firm Lyng & Co.[2]
Lyng is the nephew ofJon Lyng, defense counsel in the trial ofArne Treholt.
