Ari Banias is an American poet whose work has been featured inTroubling the Line: Trans and Genderqueer Poetry and Poetics,[1]American Poetry Review,[2]Boston Review,[3] andPOETRY.[4]

Early life and education

Banias was born inLos Angeles and grew up inChicago.[5] He received a Bachelor of Arts degree fromSarah Lawrence College and a Master of Fine Arts degree in poetry fromHunter College.

Career

He published his first book of poetry,Anybody, in 2016.[6]Anybody was nominated for the PEN American Literary Award.[7]

Banias has received the fellowships from the Wisconsin Institute for Creative Writing, theNew York Foundation for the Arts, theFine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, and Stanford University.[citation needed] He is an adjunct professor at theUniversity of San Francisco.[8]

In 2022, he was the winner of thePublishing Triangle Award for Trans and Gender-Variant Literature forA Symmetry.[9] The poem was also published inThe New York Times.[10]
