Apple Valley High School (AVHS) is a four-yearpublicsecondaryhigh school in the U.S. city ofApple Valley, Minnesota.[2] It is one of the five high schools servingIndependent School District 196 (Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan School District).[3] The school was completed in 1976 as the second high school added to the district.[4] It competes in theSouth Suburban Conference of theMinnesota State High School League (MSHSL).

Curriculum

The school boasts numerous AP, Honors, and On-level classes. In addition, through the Minnesota statePost Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) program, students are eligible to take classes at local community colleges, state colleges and universities.

Awards

Apple Valley High School received an award from theBlue Ribbon Schools Program,[4] which is considered the highest accolade an American school can receive.[5] It has also been selected as one of the "140 best high schools" in the United States, and has gained recognition from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Scholastic Coach and Athletic Journal, and the National Academy of Recording Arts and Science.[4]

Athletics

Apple Valley High School competes in theSouth Suburban Conference of theMinnesota State High School League (MSHSL).[6] Since opening in 1976, the school has accumulated 68 state championships, the second most of any high school in Minnesota.[citation needed]

Forensics

Apple Valley High School

Apple Valley's Speech and debate team is one of the best and most successful in the country. They've developed hundreds of state finalists and many more national qualifiers. Apple Valley High School also hosts the annual MinneApple annual debate tournament, and speech tournament, which draws teams from across the world.[7]

In 2019, the school won the Minnesota High SchoolMock Trial Championship.[8]

Again in 2025, the school won the Minnesota High SchoolMock Trial Championship.[9]

Fab lab

In 2015, Apple Valley High School opened afab lab, the third in Minnesota, to individuals and businesses as part of itsSTEM program.[10] It was built with a $3 million grant from theMinnesota Department of Labor and donations from companies such asUponor andUTC Aerospace Systems.[11][12]
