Antonio Emery Arocena (26 July 1905 – 29 March 1982) was a Spanishfootballer who played as agoalkeeper.[1]
Born inHondarribia, Emery began his career atReal Unión,[1] initially as a winger, but a few years later, due to an injury to their starting goalkeeper, Unión changed his position to goalkeeper.[2] He played a crucial role in helping the club win twoCopa del Rey titles in1924 and1927, keeping a clean-sheet againstReal Madrid in theformer final (1–0) and repeating the feat againstArenas Club de Getxo in thelatter final (1–0).[3][4][5]
His sonJuan and brotherRomán, and grandsonUnai, were also footballers.[5] In addition, his two older brothers, defender Francisco Emery and midfielderRomán Emery Arocena, preceded him as Real Unión footballers.[1]
