In the spinal cord, the most lateral of the bundles of theventral nerve roots is generally taken as a dividing line that separates theantero-lateral region into two parts: ananterior funiculus (oranterior column[1]), between theanterior median fissure and the most lateral of the ventral nerve roots; and alateral funiculus, between the exit of these roots and theposterolateral sulcus.[2]
