Unpainted annulet molding between thevolutes at theHammond-Harwood House

Inarchitecture, anannulet is a small square component in thecapital ofDoric columns, under thequarter-round. It is also called afillet orlistel, althoughfillet andlistel are also more general terms for a narrow band or strip,[1] such as the ridge betweenflutes.

An annulet is also a narrow flat architecturalmoulding, common in other parts of acolumn, viz. the bases, as well as the capital. It is so called, because it encompasses the column round.[clarification needed] In this sense, annulet is frequently used forbaguette or littleastragal.
