Anil Dhawan is an Indian actor who appears inHindi films and television. He made his acting debut withChetna (1970) and followed it up with a big hit inPiya Ka Ghar (1971). He is also known for his 2018 filmAndhadhun.[1]

Early life

Dhawan is fromKanpur,Uttar Pradesh, India. His father, Madan Lal Dhawan, was AGM in UCO Bank.[2] Anil did his high school from St. Francis Xavier's School, Kanpur and graduated from Christ Church College, Kanpur. He later obtained a diploma in acting fromFilm and Television Institute of India, Pune in the same batch asJaya Bhaduri.

His son is actor Siddharth Dhawan. DirectorDavid Dhawan is his brother whose sons are directorRohit Dhawan and actorVarun Dhawan.[3]

Career

He joinedFilm and Television Institute of India as he wanted to become an actor.[4] He entered Bollywood in the 1970s. His first film wasB. R. Ishara'sChetna (1970). He worked with rising actorAditya Pancholi in the television movieSone Ka Pinjra (1986). Actress and directorAsha Parekh directed him in the television serialKora Kagaz in the 1990s.[5] He has also worked in TV serialRoop - Mard Ka Naya Swaroop onColors TV Channel.
