Angus South (Gaelic:Aonghas a Deas) is acounty constituency of theScottish Parliament covering part of thecouncil area ofAngus.[2] Under theadditional-member electoral system used for elections to the Scottish Parliament, it elects oneMember of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) by thefirst past the post method of election. It is also one of ten constituencies in theNorth East Scotlandelectoral region, which elects seven additional members in addition to the ten constituency MSPs, producing a form ofproportional representation for the region as a whole.[3]

The seat was created for the2011 Scottish Parliament election,[4] and has been held since creation byGraeme Dey of theScottish National Party.

The other nine constituencies of the North East Scotland region are:Aberdeen Central,Aberdeen Deeside and North Kincardine,Aberdeen Donside,Aberdeenshire East,Aberdeenshire West,Angus North and Mearns,Banffshire and Buchan Coast,Dundee City East andDundee City West.[3] The region covers all of theAberdeen City council area, theAberdeenshire council area, theAngus council area, theDundee City council area and part of theMoray council area.[5]

Angus is represented by two constituencies in the Scottish Parliament: Angus North and Mearns and Angus South.[2]

Angus South was created at thefirst periodic review of Scottish Parliament boundaries ahead of the 2011 Scottish Parliament election, and covers areas that were formerly in the seats ofAngus andTayside North, both of which were abolished.[4] It remained unchanged following thesecond periodic review of Scottish Parliament boundaries in 2025.[6] The constituency comprises the followingwards ofAngus Council:[2]
