"Angels Like You" is a song by American singerMiley Cyrus, from her seventh studio albumPlastic Hearts, released on November 27, 2020, throughRCA Records. The song was written by Cyrus,Ali Tamposi,Ryan Tedder with the song's producersLouis Bell andAndrew Watt. It was released as the third and final single from the album on March 12, 2021,[3] it was also Cyrus' last single with RCA, whom she ended her contract with after 8 years. She subsequently signed withColumbia.[4]

The song received positive reviews from critics.[5] Commercially, the song reached number one in the Philippines and the top 10 in Indonesia and Malaysia. A music video for "Angels Like You" was released on March 8, 2021. It contains footage taken from Cyrus'Super Bowl pre-game performance on February 7, 2021.

"Angels like You" was originally released on November 27, 2020, alongside Cyrus' seventh studio albumPlastic Hearts. A music video for the song was released on March 8, 2021.[6][7][8] It impactedcontemporary hit radio stations inAustralia, as the third single from the album, four days later.[9] British radio stationBBC Radio 1 added "Angels like You" torotation on March 20, andSony Music sent it to contemporary hit radio stations in Italy on April 9, 2021.[10][11]

Composition

The lyrics of "Angels like You" were speculated to be about Kaitlynn Carter, who Cyrus previously dated.[12][13]

Music video

An official music video for "Angels like You" was released on March 8, 2021.[14] The video was recorded on February 7, 2021, at Cyrus' performance at theSuper Bowl LV pre-game show. At the end of the video, Cyrus endorsed theCOVID-19 vaccine.[15]

Despite the almost non-existent support from Cyrus's former label, the track has been able to remain popular after its release, first gaining medium to average traction onSpotify thanks to the singer's Attention tour, and later gaining growing major traction between January and July 2023, "Angels like You" began its biggest resurgence in popularity on social media platforms, mainly onTikTok. This led the song to chart for multiple weeks inside the top 20 on Global Spotify, and even more weeks inside the top 50 and top 100 of the same, The song eventually became one of Cyrus's biggest streaming hits.

It later charted for weeks and reached new peaks in official charts such as theBillboard Global 200 (peaking at #73) and Billboard Global Excluding US (peaking at #43), as well as some other major markets such as Billboard Canada and Asian countries such as the Philippines, where it went #1, making Miley Cyrus the first ever female artist to reach the #1 spot on the Philippines’ official chart multiple times (twice), later joined byBlackpink andTaylor Swift.

An unofficial sped-up version of the song, alongside fan-made remixes also surfaced. The song has also been featured in manyTikTok videos.
