Andreas Michael Meier[1] (Swiss Standard German pronunciation:[anˈdreːasˈmaɪɐ]; born 11 February 1962) is a Swiss businessman,agricultural engineer,oenologist and politician who currently serves on theNational Council (Switzerland) forThe Centre since 2023 where he succeededRuth Humbel.[2] Meier previously served on theGrand Council of Aargau between 2017 and 2022.[3]
Meier was born 11 February 1962 inLeuggern, Switzerland to Anton Meier, a farmer andwinemaker in the 16th generation, and Hildegard Meier (née Kern), a graduate of Hotelfachschule Zürich (HfZ). In 1964, his parents took-over theWeingut zum Sternen inWürenlingen. This property has been owned by the family since the13th century.[4] Meier was raised in Leuggern and attended the local schools.
Meier is in a domestic relationship, has three children and a grandchild. He resides inKlingnau.
He serves asnon-commissioned officer in theSwiss Armed Forces.
