In 2010, he joined theFC Nordsjælland youth academy and had a largegrowth spurt that made him taller and physically stronger, which meant that he could transition todefense more easily.[6]
On 9 December 2012, Maxsø made his professional debut forFC Nordsjælland, in aSuperliga match againstFC Copenhagen, where he was assigned to cover theirstriker,Andreas Cornelius.[8] Despite losing 4–1, Maxsø stated after the match that he felt his debut went "alright."[8] Two months later, he was one out of six under-19 players, who were invited to participate in the first-team training camp inLa Manga.[9]
Maxsø signed a contract extension with Nordsjælland in the summer of 2016 and turned down a transfer offer from Danish top side FC Copenhagen, citing a desire to play abroad.[10] While at the club, Maxsø grew out to become one of the most important players in Nordsjælland and a key player in defense. Brøndby
Individual
