Andrés Avelino Zapico Junquera (23 April 1946 – 6 May 2019) was a Spanish professionalfootballer who played as agoalkeeper .
Born inLa Felguera ,Langreo ,Asturias , Junquera started his senior career with local clubUP Langreo in theSegunda División .[ 3] [ 4] He signed withReal Madrid in 1966,[ 5] making hisLa Liga debut on 10 September 1967 in a 2–0 away win againstSevilla FC .[ 6]
During his spell at theSantiago Bernabéu Stadium , Junquera won the national championship five times, adding threeCopa del Generalísimo trophies and theRicardo Zamora Trophy in the1967–68 season .[ 7] He added seven appearances in theUEFA European Cup .[ 8]
Junquera joinedReal Zaragoza in the summer of 1975, being relegated to the second tier in1976–77 but winning promotion thefollowing campaign .[ 9] He retired due to ameniscus injury in 1978, at the age of 32.[ 7]
Later life and death [ edit ] After retiring from football, Junquera ran a hospitality business inSama .[ 10] [ 7]
The 73-year-old suffered aheart attack on 6 May 2019, being pronounced dead at the Valle del Nalón Hospital inRiañu the same day.[ 7]
