Andolika is aCarnaticraga, which is also sometimes written asAndholika. This raga is ajanya of the 22ndMelakarta ragaKharaharapriya.[1]
This ragam is an asymmetric scale and is classified as anaudava-audava ragam (five notes in the ascending and descending scale).[1][2]
The notes in this scale arechatushruti rishabham, shuddha madhyamam, panchamam, kaisiki nishadham inarohana and additionalchatushruti dhaivatam inavarohanam, in place ofpanchamam (see pictures). The avarohanam is Panchama Varjam. FromKharaharapriya scale (22nd melakarta), thegandharam is removed in this scale and the rest are used in asymmetrical manner. Sincegandharam is removed this scale can also be considered a janya of 28thmela Harikambhoji scale,[2] but since 22 comes ahead many prefer to use the association with Kharaharapriya.
