Major GeneralAnatoly Vasilyevich Filipchenko[a] (26 February 1928 – 7 August 2022) was a Sovietcosmonaut of Ukrainian descent. He flew on theSoyuz 7 andSoyuz 16 missions.
He was born inDavydovka,Voronezh Governorate,RSFSR.[1] After leaving the space programme in 1982, Filipchenko became the deputy director of theOKB inKharkiv.[1] He died on 7 August 2022, at the age of 94.[2] He was buried in theFederal Military Memorial Cemetery on 11 August 2022.[3]
