Greek mythological character
InGreek mythology,Amyclas (Ancient Greek:Ἀμύκλας,romanized: Amýklas) orAmyclus was a king ofSparta and the founder ofAmyclae in centralLaconia.
Amyclas was the son of KingLacedemon and QueenSparta, and brother of QueenEurydice ofArgos. He was the father ofArgalus,[1]Cynortas,[2]Hyacinth,[3]Laodamia[4] (orLeaneira[5]),Harpalus,[6]Hegesandre[7] and possibly ofPolyboea.[8] In other versions of the myth, Amyclas was also called the father ofDaphne.[9]
