Amtix (stylized asAMTIX!) is a magazine that originally reviewedAmstrad CPC computer software in the mid-1980s, published monthly byNewsfield Publications Ltd.
UnlikeZzap!64 andCRASH (its more successful sister publications from Newsfield), the original version ofAmtix! was relatively short-lived. It ran for 18 issues in total between November 1985 and April 1987, plus a special preview issue (Issue zero) which was given away withZzap!64 andCRASH.
After issue 18,Amtix! was sold toDatabase Publications who merged theAmtix! games sections into their ownComputing With the Amstrad magazine.[1]
LikeZzap!64 andCrash,Amtix! had very distinctive, comic-style cover art, drawn byOliver Frey.
In September 2021 the magazine was relaunched as a quarterly A5 publication by Fusion Retro Books under the title AMTIXCPC Micro Action. Twelve issues of AMTIX were subsequently published before the title closed again.
After nearly eighteen months of hard reviewing, the AMTIX team is disbanding [..] This is the last issue of AMTIX! [..] Newsfield are passing the title on to Database Publications, who plan to incorporate the best features of AMTIX! in their magazine, COMPUTING WITH THE AMSTRAD.
