Amrah (Arabic:عمرة) is a village situated in theShahba District ofSuwayda Governorate, in southern Syria. According to theSyria Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Amrah had a population of 1,691 in the 2004 census.[1] Its inhabitants are predominantlyDruze.[2]
In 1596, it appeared inOttomantax registers under the name of 'Amra, located in thenahiya ofBani Miglad in theQada Hawran. It was noted asHali (empty), but taxes were paid for use of the land, a lump sum of 2,700akçe.[3]
In 1838 'Amra was noted byEli Smith as being located inJabal Hauran, and inhabited by Druze people.[4]
