Amphicynodon was an extinctgenus ofcaniform carnivore. It has traditionally been considered an early bear,[1] although recent evidence has suggested it may be a unique member linked to otherpinnipeds.[citation needed] It was endemic to Europe and Asia during theOligocene, from approximately 33.9—28.4Mya and existing for approximately6 million years. It was similar in size to earlymustelids.[citation needed]
