InGreek mythology,Amechania orAmekhania (Ancient Greek: Àμηχανίην) was the spirit of impossibility.^[1] She was regarded as a close companion (and sister) ofPenia andPtocheia.^{[citation needed]} She was virtually identical toAporia.^{[citation needed]} Amechania was mentioned by ancient Greek authors such asAlcaeus^[2] andHerodotus.^[3]
