InGreek mythology,Amechania orAmekhania (Ancient Greek: Àμηχανίην) was the spirit of impossibility.[1] She was regarded as a close companion (and sister) ofPenia andPtocheia.[citation needed] She was virtually identical toAporia.[citation needed] Amechania was mentioned by ancient Greek authors such asAlcaeus[2] andHerodotus.[3]
