Ambrella Co., Ltd. (Japanese:有限会社アンブレラ,Hepburn:Yūgen gaisha Anburera) was a Japanesevideo game development company that worked under a publishing agreement withNintendo. They were best known for making spin-off games for thePokémon video game franchise, particularly thePokémon Rumble series. Ambrella was formerly a part ofMarigul Management. In 2021Creatures Inc acquired and dissolved Ambrella.[1]

Overview

Ambrella developed theNintendo 64 voice recognition game,Hey You, Pikachu! in 1998,Pokémon Channel for theGameCube in 2003, andPokémon Dash for theNintendo DS in 2004. Ambrella developedMy Pokémon Ranch for theWii'sWiiWare service, which was released in Japan on March 25, 2008, and in North America on June 9, 2008. It developedPokémon Rumble which was released in North America on November 16, 2009.[2]

The company developed further entries in thePokémon Rumble series withPokémon Rumble Blast forNintendo 3DS,Pokémon Rumble U for theWii U,Pokémon Rumble World for the Nintendo 3DS, andPokémon Rumble Rush for mobile devices. The most recentRumble games were released via theNintendo eShop, and contain some variant of microtransactions;Pokémon Rumble World uses traditional microtransactions andPokémon Rumble U usesNFC figurines that predateAmiibo.

On October 16, 2020, a few months afterPokémon Rumble Rush was shut down,Creatures announced the acquisition of Ambrella; Creatures received all property rights and Ambrella was disbanded, with the employees then working under Creatures.[3]
