Alofoke FM is aDominican radio station located inSanto Domingo. It transmits on 99.3MHz from the Alofoke Music Group building with aneffective radiated power of 42,900watts (class C1). It airs anurban contemporary and tropical rhythms and is owned bySantiago Matías andOzuna and operated by Santiago's media company Alofoke Music Group. Its studios and offices are located at the Alofoke Music building at Calle Virgilio Díaz Ordóñez #52,Santo Domingo,Dominican Republic.[1][2][3][4]
The station firstsigned on asHIPJ on october 24th, 1987 and started with aneffective radiated power of 10,000watts, the studios were located at 27 de Febrero ave. and It was founded by theDominican radio host and producer José Lluberes and branded asSonido Suave. It began as a Spanish-languageBolero andBallad station serving what is now theDistrito Nacional, later adding moresoft adult contemporary, English-language music for younger listeners and a news segment, as well as expanding its reach to theGreater Santo Domingo.[5]
On october 4, 2021,Sonido Suave was rebranded as Alofoke FM after it was bought bySantiago Matías andOzuna during the same year, changing its format from aBolero,Ballad andsoft adult contemporary to anurban contemporary.[6][7]
