Aloers (the word is originallyCatalan) were independentpeasant proprietors ofalous in what is nowCatalonia, especially during the years between theCarolingian reconquest of theHispanic Marches from theMoors in the late 9th century and the consolidation offeudalism in that region in the 11th century. They generally practised family-basedsubsistence farming.
