Almopians orAlmopes (Ancient Greek: Ἀλμῶπες or Ἀλμωπεῖς) were an ancientPaeonian[1] tribe. They inhabited the region ofAlmopia inLower Macedonia, which was named after the tribe. They were expelled after the conquest of the region byAlexander I of Macedon.[2] According to the Greek mythology, the founder of the tribe was thought to be theGiant demigodAlmops whom they highly worshiped.
