Allium sanbornii is aNorth American species ofwild onion known by the common nameSanborn's onion.[3] It is native to northernCalifornia and southwesternOregon.[4] It grows in theserpentine soils of the southernCascade Range and northernSierra Nevada foothills.[5][6]
Allium sanbornii produces a reddish-brownbulb up to about 2.5 cm (1 in) long.Scape up to 60 cm (24 in) long, bearing a single cylindrical leaf which is about the same length. Theumbel contains as many as 150 small flowers, each withtepals less than a centimeter long, pink to white with darker red midveins.Anthers are yellow or purple;pollen yellow or white.[6][7][8]
