Allisonia cockaynei is the only species ofliverwort in the genusAllisonia[1] and familyAllisoniaceae. It isendemic toNew Zealand.[2]
The genusCalycularia, formerly included within the Allisoniaceae, is now classified in its own familyCalyculariaceae.
Allisoniaceae is one of only two liverwort families endemic toNew Zealand, the other beingJubulopsidaceae. There are no moss or hornwort families endemic to New Zealand.[3]
