"All Through the Night" is a 1934popularsong written byCole Porter for his 1934 musicalAnything Goes. The melody's distinguishing characteristic is a descendingchromatic scale, starting on the third, interrupted by anoctave leap after four bars. It was introduced byWilliam Gaxton and Betina Hume.Hit versions in 1935 were recorded byPaul Whiteman (vocal by Bob Lawrence) and byHarry Rosenthal (vocal byHelen Ward).[1]
