Alison Snowden (born 4 April 1958) is an English animator, voice actress, producer, and screenwriter best known forBob and Margaret alongside her Oscar-winning shortBob's Birthday which was also co-directed by her husbandDavid Fine.[1]Bob's Birthday serves as the pilot for the Alison Snowden and David Fine's animated TV showBob and Margaret.[2]

Life and work

Born inArnold, Nottinghamshire,[3] Snowden studied at the Mansfield Art College, Lanchester Polytechnic (nowCoventry University) and subsequently theNational Film and Television School where she collaborated with future husband David Fine. Alison Snowden's shortSecond Class Mail was nominated for theAcademy Award for Best Animated Short Film at the58th Academy Awards.[4]

At the67th Academy Awards, Snowden and Fine's shortBob's Birthday received the Oscar.[5][6]

Snowden and Fine's NFB filmsBob's Birthday andGeorge and Rosemary are included in theAnimation Show of Shows.[7][8]

Alison Snowden, along with her husband David Fine, both created and producedBob's Birthday andBob and Margaret; the two have also written for the animated TV showPeppa Pig. They also developedShaun the Sheep, another animated series, forAardman Animations, and created the character of Timmy.[9]

Family

Alison Snowden's daughter Lily is also a formervoice actress withAstley Baker Davies,[10] where she is best known for voicingPeppa Pig in the show of the same name, and has also appeared inBarbie: The Princess & the Popstar and the TV seriesBob and Margaret.[11][12] She currently works as an artist and illustrator.
