Alijah Randall Edwin Martin (born December 26, 2001) is an American professionalbasketball player for theToronto Raptors of theNational Basketball Association (NBA), on atwo-way contract with theRaptors 905 of theNBA G League. He playedcollege basketball for theFlorida Atlantic Owls and theFlorida Gators.
Martin attendedNorth Pike High School inSummit, Mississippi.[1] A multi-sport athlete, he playedfootball as aquarterback, passing for 2,100 yards and rushing for 1,300 yards in his senior season.[2] In his senior basketball season, he averaged 25.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 3.4 steals per game, before committing to playingcollege basketball forFlorida Atlantic.[3]
After playing sparingly as a freshman for the Owls, he averaged 13.9 points and 5.3 rebounds per game as a sophomore, being named to the all-conference third team.[4] The following season, he averaged 13.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, helping lead Florida Atlantic to the school's first ever Final Four appearance.[5][6] In his final season with the Owls, he averaged 13.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game, before entering thetransfer portal.[7]
In April 2024, Martin announced his decision to transfer to theUniversity of Florida.[8][9] He made an instant impact, emerging as the Gators' starting shooting guard.[10] In a game againstSouthern Illinois, he recorded 32 points, nine rebounds, and five assists, leading Florida to a 93–68 victory.[11] AgainstAuburn in theFinal Four, he scored 17 points in a 79–73 victory.[12] In theNational Championship Game againstHouston, he tallied seven points, helping lead the Gators to the school's third national championship.[13]
On June 25, 2025, Martin was selected with the 39th overall pick by theToronto Raptors in the second round of the2025 NBA draft.[14] On July 10, 2025, theToronto Raptors announced that they had signed Martin totwo-way contract.[15]
