Ali Zein Mohamed al-Hawwari (Arabic:علي زين محمد الهواري; born 14 December 1990) is an Egyptianhandball player for Romanian sideDinamo București player and theEgyptian national team.[1]
Zein was born in Abu Mina',Qena Governorate, hailing from theHawwara tribe.[2][3] He started his career atAl Ahly in 1996–97,[4] then he played forÉtoile Sportive du Sahel,Al Jazira Club,Pays d'Aix Université Club andSharjah Sports Club, before joiningBarcelona in July 2021,[5] where he won the2021–22 EHF Champions League.[6] After one season he transferred toDinamo București.[7]
He played forEgypt U20 at the2009 Junior World Championship and2011 Junior World Championship.
He won the2013 Mediterranean Games, and theAfrican Championship in2016,2020,2022 and2024 withEgypt.[8][9] He also represented Egypt at theWorld Men's Handball Championship in2013,2015,2019,[10][11]2021,2023 and2025.[12] In addition, he competed in the2016,2020 and2024 Summer Olympics.[13]
