Ali Forsyth (born 11 December 1979) is a New Zealand international lawn and indoor bowler.[1]
Forsyth fromNelson, in New Zealand, first came to prominence when winning the New Zealand national title which qualified him to compete in the 2004World Singles Champion of Champions. He won thegold medal defeating David Anderson of Scotland in the final.[2]
He then won a bronze medal in the singles at the2008 World Outdoor Bowls Championship and a bronze in the triples at the2012 World Outdoor Bowls Championship inAdelaide.[3] In 2016, he won his sixth national title including the pairs with his father Neville.[4]
In 2016, he won a bronze medal at the2016 World Outdoor Bowls Championship inChristchurch in the triples withBlake Signal andMike Nagy before winning a gold medal in thefours with Signal, Nagy andMike Kernaghan.[5]
In 2020 he was selected for the2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Australia.[6]
He was selected as part of theNew Zealand team for the2018 Commonwealth Games on theGold Coast inQueensland.[7] In 2022, he competed in themen's triples and themen's fours at the2022 Commonwealth Games.[8]
Forsyth has won seven medals at theAsia Pacific Bowls Championships, including two gold medals in the singles and a double silver in the triples and fours at the 2019Asia Pacific Bowls Championships in theGold Coast, Queensland.[9][10]
At national level Forsyth has won nine titles at theNew Zealand National Bowls Championships when bowling for the various bowls clubs.[11] They are the 2003, 2004 and 2013/14 singles for the United and Havelock Bowls Clubs respectively; the pairs three times in 2012/13, 2015/16 and 2017/18 and the fours three times in 2010/11, 2011/12 and 2017/18.
