Ali Cobrin (born July 21, 1989) is an American actress. She is best known for her roles as Molly on the Showtime seriesLook: The Series, Kara in the 2012 filmAmerican Reunion, Whitney in the 2014 filmNeighbors, and Kari Baxter on the Amazon Prime seriesThe Baxters.

Early life

Cobrin was born and raised inChicago,Illinois.[1] She attended high school at theChicago Academy for the Arts where she majored inmusical theatre.[2] Growing up, she trained to become a classicalballerina[3] and competed in theJunior Olympics.[2] Cobrin has one brother, and two half-sisters. She is ofJewish descent.[4]

Career

Cobrin began her entertainment career as an improvisation player in Second City's teen ensemble and danced with the Burklyn Ballet Theater touring Scotland, where she performed at theEdinburgh Fringe Festival.[5] During that same time, Cobrin had workshopped Broadway musicals, includingAll That Jazz andWonderland, which were directed byBen Vereen and Frank Wildhorn, respectively.[6] After graduating high school at the age of 17, Cobrin moved toLos Angeles, California, to pursue an acting career.[2]

Upon moving toLos Angeles, Cobrin had her first film acting role in a 2008 short film entitledOne. That same year, she starred in another short film calledJack Turner and the Reluctant Vampire, which won two awards in the Los Angeles Accolade Competition.[citation needed] In 2009, Cobrin had a supporting role inThe Hole, a 3D film directed byJoe Dante.[7] The film would win the first Premio Persol award for best 3-D movie at the 2009 Venice Film Festival.[8] In 2010, Cobrin made her debut television appearance inKings by Night,[citation needed] a comedy pilot for Spike TV, and Showtime'sLOOK.[1] Later that year, she had a lead actress role in the filmCold Cabin, and appeared opposite to rapper B.o.B in the Adidas Originals shoe campaign commercial,MEGA Diner.[5] In 2011, she guest starred in the television series,Friends with Benefits.[citation needed]

In 2012, Cobrin played the role of Kara inAmerican Reunion, a sequel in the originalAmerican Pie film series.[9] The same year, she starred inLife’s an Itch.[10]

In 2014, Cobrin portrayed Whitney in the filmNeighbors, oppositeZac Efron andSeth Rogen. She also portrayed Joan in the drama thriller filmOutlaw, directed byTodd Shields and Julia in the Michaël Nakache drama filmConnected.[11] In 2015, she portrayed Kylie Atkins inTrevor Matthews' horror thriller filmGirl House, in which she co-starred withSlaine.[12]

In 2024, she plays Kari Baxter on the Amazon Prime seriesThe Baxters, oppositeRoma Downey andTed McGinley as her parents.
