Alexandre Goyette (born April 11, 1979) is a Canadian actor and writer fromQuebec, most noted as the writer of the stage playKing Dave and the screenwriter and star of its 2016film adaptation.^[1]

He grew up inMontréal-Nord andRivière-des-Prairies,Quebec,^[1] and was educated atCollège André-Grasset and theCégep de Saint-Hyacinthe.^[2]

King Dave was first staged in 2005 as a solo one-man show in which Goyette played all of the characters himself.^[3] The film adaptation featured several actors.^[1]

In 2020, Goyette collaborated with actor Anglesh Major to update the story withBlack Lives Matter themes so that Major could star in a revival for the Théàtre Jean-Duceppe;^[4] in 2023, Patrick Emmanuel Abellard also starred in an English-language translation of the Black-themed version forCentaur Theatre.^[5]

In addition toKing Dave, he has had other supporting roles in film and television,^[2] and has had stage roles including Victor inDown Dangerous Passes Road (Le chemin des Passes-Dangereuses),^[6] Marco inThe Decline of the American Empire (Le Déclin de l'empire américain),^[7] and Caius Marcius inCoriolanus.^[8]

In 2014, he had his first credit as a director, staging his own French translation ofMike Bartlett's playCock for Espace 4001.^[9]

He has been in a longterm relationship with Geneviève Côté, a former actress who now has a psychotherapy practice.^[10]
