Alex Yeo Sheng Chye[a] is a Singaporean politician and lawyer. A member of the governingPeople's Action Party (PAP), he has been theMember of Parliament (MP) forPotong Pasir Single Member Constituency (SMC) since 2025.

Education

Yeo was part of the debating team inVictoria School andTampines Junior College.[1] He studied economics and political science at theNational University of Singapore and later graduated from theUniversity of Sydney with a degree in law.[1][2]

Career

Yeo is a lawyer.[b] He is qualified in both Singapore and Australia and is the director of Niru & Co LLC.[2]

Political career

In 2014, Yeo began volunteering for the PAP inPotong Pasir SMC.[7][4] He became the party's branch secretary for the constituency in 2015.[2] In 2017, he became the branch chairperson[c] for the Paya Lebar division ofAljunied Group Representation Constituency (GRC), held by theWorkers' Party (WP), afterMurali Pillai, the previous chairperson, was appointed to the same role inBukit Batok SMC, being the PAP candidate for its2016 by-election.[4][10]

In the2020 general election, Yeo was fielded in Aljunied GRC; the five-member PAP team lost to the WP team, led by party leaderPritam Singh, with 40.05% of the vote.[3][11]

In 2024, Yeo was replaced as branch chairperson for Paya Lebar by Kenny Sim.[5]

In the2025 general election, Yeo was fielded in Potong Pasir SMC, replacing incumbentSitoh Yih Pin, who had retired from electoral politics.[7] He defeated Williamson Lee, treasurer of theSingapore People's Party (SPP), andLim Tean, secretary-general of thePeople's Alliance for Reform (PAR), with 69.2% of the vote in a three-way contest.[12][6]
