ThesubfamilyAlcelaphinae (ortribeAlcelaphini),[1][2] of the familyBovidae, contains thewildebeest,tsessebe,topi,hartebeest,blesbok andbontebok, and several other relatedspecies. Depending on the classification, there are 6–10 species placed in four genera, althoughBeatragus is sometimes considered a subgenus ofDamaliscus, whileSigmoceros is sometimes considered for theLichtenstein's hartebeest.[3]
