Netflix Studios - Albuquerque, New Mexico is afilm studio located in theMesa del Sol development ofAlbuquerque,New Mexico. The premises include twelvesound stages, production offices, and a backlot.[1]

Originally known as ABQ Studios,[1] the facility served as headquarters for theBreaking Bad television show crew, as well as for a number ofHollywood films.Breaking Bad was the second production to be filmed at the studio, afterIn Plain Sight. The coordinates at whichBreaking Bad characterWalter White buries his money in the season 5 episode "Buried"—34°59′12″N106°36′31″W / 34.98667°N 106.60861°W /34.98667; -106.60861—actually points to Albuquerque Studios.[2]

In October 2018, it was announced thatNetflix was in negotiations to buy the studio and make it the primary production facility forNetflix Originals.[1] The company acquired the facility with a $30 million capital investment, and received an additional $14.5 million in funding through the city of Albuquerque and the state of New Mexico.[3] The studio, originally built in 2007 with a budget of around $91 million, was renamed following the acquisition.[4]

In November 2020, Netflix announced that the facility will be expanded by 300 acres (120 ha) with $1 billion committed towards spending for production.[5] Construction for the expansion commenced in May 2022 and is expected to be completed by 2024.[6]
