Albin Berisha (born 14 January 2001) is a Kosovan professionalfootballer who plays as aforward for German teamHansa Rostock II.
Berisha began his senior career atKategoria Superiore clubsKukësi andLaçi, before returning to his native Kosovo atBesa Pejë in 2019. In the summer of that year, he moved toKosovo Superleague clubBallkani, with which he won several domestic honours following loans atLiria Prizren andMalisheva. In 2024, he signed for Romanian teamPetrolul Ploiești.
Berisha started his junior career at his hometown clubBallkani, from where he was transferred to Albanian sideKukësi in 2017. He was initially assigned to the under-17 and under-19 teams,[1] and on 6 February 2018 was promoted to the first team.[2] On 10 March that year, he was named as a substitute for the first time in aKategoria Superiore match againstTeuta Durrës.[3]
Berisha then moved to fellow league teamLaçi in the summer of 2018. He made his debut on 26 September, starting and scoring two goals in a 9–0 home rout ofNaftëtari in thefirst round of theAlbanian Cup.[4] Midway through the2018–19 campaign, Berisha returned to his native Kosovo by signing forBesa Pejë,recently relegated to thesecond division.
On 28 July 2019, Berisha rejoined his former youth sideBallkani in theKosovo Superleague.[5]
Followinghis debut season, Berisha was sent on a one-year loan toLiria Prizren on 7 September 2020.[6] On 21 August 2021, he returned from his loan and extended his contract until 2025.[7] Berisha played his first match after his return a day later againstDukagjini, coming on as a 61st-minute substitute forErmal Krasniqi.
Berisha played for Ballkani during the first half of the2021–22 campaign, but moved on loan to fellow league teamMalisheva on 1 February 2022.[8] He made his debut 12 days later againstPrishtina, being named in the starting lineup.[9]
On 5 July 2022, Berisha registered his debut inEuropean competitions by starting in a 1–1 home draw toŽalgiris in thefirst qualifying round of theUEFA Champions League.[10] On 19 July, he scored his first European goal in a 4–0 away thrashing ofLa Fiorita in thesecond qualifying round of theEuropa Conference League.[11]
Berisha made six appearances in thegroup stage of the latter competition, but only started in a 0–1 away loss toCFR Cluj on 3 November. On 21 January 2023, he started in the 1–0 victory overLlapi in the2022 Kosovar Supercup.[12]
Berisha won his second national title with Ballkani at the end of the2022–23 season. His side qualified again to the Europa Conference League, and this time he started in all six matches of thegroup stage, including the 2–0 home win overDinamo Zagreb on 5 October 2023.[13]
On 5 February 2024, Berisha signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Romanian clubPetrolul Ploiești,[14] for a rumoured fee of €200,000 plus 20% interest on a future sale.[15] He made his debut eleven days later, scoring a late winner in a 2–1 homeLiga I victory overPolitehnica Iași.[16]
On 29 July 2024, Berisha scored his first goal of theseason in a 1–0 leaguederby win overRapid București.[17]
On 14 August 2024, Berisha moved to German sideHansa Rostock for an undisclosed transfer fee.[18] He scored a goal in his very first game for Hansa, in thecup match againstHertha BSC (1–5). After that, he only made three more appearances for the North-German club until the winter break.
In 2019, Berisha was called up by theKosovo national under-19 team for a training camp held between 7 and 9 May.[19] On the 20th that month, he received another call-up for thefriendlies againstAlbania,[20] but was an unused substitute in both matches.
