Alberto Undurraga Vicuña (born 17 June 1969) is aChileanpolitician andeconomist currently serving as the president of theChristian Democratic Party.
Undurraga was born in Santiago on 17 June 1969. He studied at the Colegio San Ignacio andPontifical Catholic University of Chile. He joined the Christian Democratic Party as a student in 1988, duringChile's transition to democracy.
In the early 1990s, Undurraga was president of the Student's Federation while studying at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. In 2004, he was elected mayor ofMaipú, a city in the greater Santiago area, serving in that capacity until 2012.
In 2014, PresidentMichelle Bachelet named himMinister of Public Works, a position he served in untilSebastián Piñera took office in2018.
In2021, he was one of eight candidates elected fromDistrict 8 of the Chamber of Deputies, the only one in the district from the PDC.
In 2022, the PDC national council elected him party president.
